Bordered with vineyards and
crowned with forests, the Marne and Surmelin valleys are lands
of serene humanity which witnessed the birth of Jean de La Fontaine's
fables and the paintings by Corot. On each side of these valleys, meanders the touristic circuit of the Champagne Road. |

Most of the vineyards are planted midhill on deep calcareous
soil topped with a thin layer of siliceous clay which gives the
vines their nutriments, at the same time allowings proper drainage
to the plants The vinegrowers will talk with passion and pride about the processing of their vintages. It is a delicate art, blending different wines, of different origins and various years. |
