Located at he crossroads of wars and invasions, Château-Thierry District was inevitably marked by its geographical situation.
Its history started many centuries ago, and has its roots in the Tardenois region (9000 years befor Christ).
The Middle Ages were marked by invasions, the Jacquerie (revolt of the peasants) upset the medieval XIV° century society.
The region was also involved in the religious Reform Movement, under the influence of the Prince of Condé. Louis XIII selected the south of Aisne for his hunting trips, and the XVIII° century saw the birth of one of its most charming creatures, Jeanne Antoinette Poisson.
In 1814 the Campaign of France crossed our country and the 1914-1918 war left it in ruins and planted everywhere white marble crosses, in memory of the second Battle of the Marne.
